DEAL SOURCING FOR PRIVATE EQUITY
The PRIVATE EQUITY market continues to blossom worldwide.
France and Canada have become prime countries for platform
investments by internationally minded LBO firms:
- In Canada, southwestern Ontario is a particularly
resourceful area and an integral part of North America's
industrial heartland, comprised by the Chicago - Philadelphia
- Toronto triangle. It harbors numerous mid-size firms
which should attract investments from the major US LBO
firms operating on that market segment. Investing in
a Canadian platform from which to build up may offer
tax advantages for these firms and Canadian banks are
very active in senior debt structuring.
- France's LBO business has increased sevenfold over
the past five years. Mid-market opportunities range
from large corporation divestments to public-to-private
deals out of the Second Marché. One could also
find good buy-outs of private firms in manufacturing
and service sectors where France has a leading edge
with the build-up opportunities offered by the economic
and financial integration of the European Union.
CANEC's active deal flow for private equity firms
in these two countries stems from:
- Practicing M&A for fifteen years, involving specific
industries such as automotive, packaging, plastics and
metals.
- Developing a wide range of business contacts in France
and in Canada enabling us to reach beyond these specific
industries.
- Understanding of the rationale of LBOs, of the key
requirements for a deal to be financially leveraged,
of the importance of the management team and of the
add-on and exit strategies necessary to make an LBO
investment successful.
- Recognizing that our commitment towards our clients
does not end with the sourcing of a deal but with its
successful completion.
CANEC International originates transactions in the
mid-market segment. Our competitive advantages are our track
record in our sectors of competence, our business networks
in these two countries and our understanding of the key
drivers behind a successful LBO transaction.
